I LOVE the new Eastern Palace Suite that SU has made available THIS MONTH before the catalog goes live NEXT MONTH.  The SUO challenge this week is a masculine card....and I think this would be a great card as a man-card....what do you think?  On the other hand I would like to get it as a GIRL too, but it looks more manly than most of my cards.....I mean, there are NO FLOWERS, right?  This new set with the dies and stamps is the BOMB, and this new lemon lime color knocks my socks off!   We haven't had a color like this in literally YEARS - in fact the last time we had one I was afraid of it....but this one I love, I guess I have gained color maturity over the years.  At any rate I have started playing with this suite and have gotten almost NOTHING ELSE DONE FOR DAYS.....but for now I must lay my head upon my pillow and get some sleep as tomorrow I am going into work early.  Happy Tuesday everyone!  Until next time, Karen

The SUO challenge blog this week is watercolors.....so I did this one with reinkers and a paintbrush and my pads....and the color challenge over on SCS this week was using some combo of the retiring in -colors and I chose watermelon and mint macaron, - the two in this bunch that make me wanna cry to say goodbye. :(  I also threw in some of this old black striped retired ribbon because the card just cried out for some.  I suspect some will look at this card and say lose the bow.....and to them I would say design your own card and don't put a bow on it......bahahahaha.....I thought it was literally screaming for this ribbon so there you have it!! Different strokes!!  This was a pretty quick and fun card to make - always fun to watercolor!!  Okay well, I am off to bed, as I am falling asleep as I type - Happy Tuesday everyone!!!  Until next time, Karen

The SUO challenge this week is feminine cards....I think almost every card I make is a feminine card......I really shy away from man cards until I actually NEED one.  I kind of cased one of my own cards when I made this one - one I did several years ago -with the bold outline lines which go so well with white embossing.  I actually embossed these in white ON the colored paper and then just shaded with a sponge dauber.  A wonderful technique if you hate to color- which is certainly NOT the case with me, but a lovely look none the less. :) Happy Tuesday everyone!! Happy Stamping!! Until next time, Karen

The SUO challenge for this week is to make a Sympathy card.  I decided to play with this set again as I used it last week when I was hostess for the color challenge.  I like this card, but not as much as the one I made last week.  It's a fun set though, if you like to color. :) Succulents are crazy IN right now.  What's up with that?  They've been around for 100's of years but suddenly they are EVERYWHERE.  Anyhow I hope you like my succulents.  Happy Tuesday everyone!! Until next time, Karen

The SUO challenge for today is April themes, and I thought of the beginning of wedding season....and came up with Love is in the Air~  I love this hot air balloon and this is actually my first card with it!  i used flowers from Jar of Love which is one of my favorite sets of all time...endless possibilities.....and as for now I am falling asleep posting this so I will say goodnight!! Goodnight!! Until next time,  Karen

The SUO challenge blog challenge for this week was UP IN THE SKY and somehow my brain turned that into THINGS THAT FLY....hmmmmm.....not sure why but it works, eh?  I love the new dragonfly set of dies and stamps....I sort of derived my inspiration on this one from a favorite t-shirt I have.....it was a fun one to make!  What do you think?? Happy Tuesday everyone!!  Until next time.....Karen

The SUO challenge this week is CELEBRATE GREEN.  So this card does it, right? Pretty dang green.  This was a very quick card to make - and I like the way it came out - I am not a sender of St. Patrick's Day cards, so I went with a Wishing you Brighter days to come card...seems like you can always find someone to send this kind of card to today!  This is paper piecing - and a fun technique!  Thank you all for the comments you have been leaving - if you leave one it goes into hold until I moderate them because if they all got published there would be so many spam comments.....so don't think I don't see your comments - I do after I moderate them. :) Happy Tuesday everyone!! And if you are having a hard time or walking through some trials and testings, I am here to wish you brighter days to come!! Until next time, Karen

OKAY, so maybe it's a rooster and not a chicken?  Do you know how absolutely exhausting it is to name your blog entries and be clever about it?  And then there is the issue of naming your cards over on SCS, an equally daunting necessary evil.  So cut me some slack and let me call him a chicken.  It's all in the family, right?  So this week the challenge over on the SUO challenge blog is SALEABRATION FUN, and I don't think Saleabration gets anymore fun than this chicken set.  Before I sign OFF for the night and hit the hay, (keeping with the farm theme here...) I will just say that I feel alot more like blogging because you guys have been leaving me some proof that someone besides me reads these little posts and peruses my blog.  Thanks for that.  Spread the love and all that.  I do appreciate it.  Have a happy day like the chicken/rooster says.  Happy Tuesday everyone!  Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day too!!!  Until next time.......Karen

I must have clearly been a little tired last night - as I totally forgot to post my card for the SUO challenge here on my blog.  So here I am, a day late.  Better late than never.  The SUO challenge this time is VALENTINES.  I used a set from the freebies for Saleabration to make the lace border.  And the other one is the new set in the Occasions MIni catalog.  I finally did discover the black hole where all the comments were going and I posted them from last week.  Makes me feel more like posting when you all take the time to leave me some reactions. :):) I have been on an absolute stamping spree lately - I hope you enjoy this simple creation for Valentines Day - Happy Tuesday everyone - it's still Tuesday for 50 more minutes. :):)  Until next time, Karen

The SUO challenge this week is for embossing - heat and dry or heat or dry - I chose to do both.  I embossed the dragon fly in gold and smeared it with soft sky ink.  I dry embossed my background with the lacy embossing folder - I used the Falling for You stamp set as well as the new dragonfly set to create this shabby chic card.  This past weekend I sort of holed myself up in my stamp room and only came out for food.  I am trying to get lots of samples made for Saleabration - and my husband just put a DVD player in the stamp room for me and he also bought me the most awesome Christmas gift this year of the entire set of Downton Abby DVD's and MAN! Was that inspiration to stay in the stamp room!!! For some reason I do not get tired of watching that series over and over and over......One more thing before I hop on over to post my color challenge card this week on SCS......If you are reading this post, can you please leave me a comment?  I'm starting to think I'm the only one who reads my blog....haha....only I'm not really laughing.  Just if no one really reads it I may just stop blogging as what is the point?  Just checking the "pulse" of my blog so to speak. :) Happy Tuesday everyone!!  Until next time, Karen

The SUO challenge this week is "New Year, new stuff!" - so using something new!  This paper is awesome and brand new from SU!!  Also those sequins are brand new - lots of brand new stuff for Saleabration AND in the new Occasions Mini catalog...and I have barely had time to use any of it yet as I was traveling over Christmas to visit our twin grand children in Minneapolis.  It amazes me that no matter how many grand children you have they are each so unique and so special and so loved.  I cried all the way home....Eva and Luca are FOUR years old....such a fun age.  Of all of our grand children I feel like we haven't had as much time with them.  All of the others have lived with us at one time or another, except for brand new baby Tate that is.  It was fun to have almost a week to wake up in the same house as Eva and Luca. Every time I see any of my grand children I have to use my adage from Mary Engelbreit to stop feeling so blue when it's over -and that is, "Don't cry cuz it's over, Smile cuz it happened".  That's kind of my life motto with kids and grand kids all over the globe.  So many blessings.  Happy New Year everyone!  Until next time......Karen
